COMING UP...

A worldwide hit on the big screen, Rickmansworth Players are excited to present the stage musical version of Disney’s The Little Mermaid at Watersmeet Theatre, from 20-23 November 2024.

We are also pleased to be offering signed performances on 21st November at 7.30pm and 23rd November at 2pm.

Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved stories and the classic animated film, Disney's The Little Mermaid is a hauntingly beautiful love story for all ages. With music by eight-time Academy Award winner, Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater and a compelling book by Doug Wright, this fishy fable will capture your heart with its irresistible songs, including Under the Sea, Kiss the Girl and Part of Your World.

Ariel, King Triton's youngest daughter, wishes to pursue the human Prince Eric in the world above, bargaining with the evil sea witch, Ursula, to trade her tail for legs. But the bargain is not what it seems, and Ariel needs the help of her colourful friends, Flounder the fish, Scuttle the seagull and Sebastian the crab to restore order under the sea.

Ricky Players is bringing the exciting new show Big Fish to the Pump House Theatre from 6-10 May 2025 and we invite you to join us at the launch night at 8pm on 28th November, at Little Green School.

Big Fish is a musical based on Daniel Wallace's novel and Tim Burton’s 2003 film. The story focusses on Edward, a charming storyteller who tries to inspire his son, Will, by recounting fantastical tales of the adventures he had on the road as a travelling salesman. As a child, Will loved these tall tales but as an adult, he struggles to unpick reality from fantasy and really understand what drives his father. He goes on a quest to search for the truth behind the stories and learns lessons about himself that change the father he in turn becomes.

It's an energetic and fun show with some beautiful music written by Andrew Lippa whose music we last enjoyed in The Addams Family. There will be lots of dancing and a strong chorus needed to support the myriad of fantastical creatures and the principal characters. Our great creative team are already coming up with ideas to bring the story to life, so come and find out about the opportunities to get involved!

Pre-audition meets will be on Monday 2nd December, Thursday 5th December with the auditions on Sunday 8th December and first rehearsal scheduled for 9th December.
